Saturday morning, 9am, Tort law reading and a flat white. Having been to a couple of the ‘Lounge’ chain cafes/resturants in my local area, I ventured to the quayside with a friend to put Puerto Lounge to the ‘Lucy Does Law’ test.
The huge, vast space in this coffee shop makes the ambience lack something that I just can’t put my finger on. There isn’t a ‘buzz’ about, and the atmosphere isn’t really that calming either, it’s all just a bit of ‘nothing’. BUT there’s plenty of space to spread out and the music wasn’t very intrusive – which is always a plus from me.
A good, strong flat white. For flavour, could be ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, but it was kinda bubbly on the top which made drinking it at the beginning a bit of a weird sensation. Other than the bubbles, this was a reliable coffee.
I got a bit frustrated with the whole logging in process that failed to work for me a few times, and then when I FINALLY got in, it dropped after about 30 minutes. But whilst it was working it was solid and I managed to get done what I needed it for.
I’m a big fan of all the lampshades and paintings that surround the cafe, but the darkness is quite ‘looming’. The whole painting decor is just maybe a bit much and encroaching. I can still appreciate the attempt for a cosy vibe though.
Wouldn’t be my first choice, but would go again, the ease of getting a table is a win and it’s nice to go for a walk around the quay after the grind.
