Thursday afternoon, 2:30, EU essay planning and a flat white. Grow Coffee House is new to Exeter this year, a shop all about expressing positive ethos through coffee – it was about time it undertook the ‘Lucy Does Law’ test.
It’s as though this coffee house was DESIGNED for working in. High ceilings, lots of table space and lots of people on their laptops, there’s certainty a calming work ethic coming out of this place. Only reason it’s not five stars is due to the music volume. I’m open to a bit of Two Door Cinema club in the background, but the noise was a tad excessive.
First of all, the glass that my flat white came in gets a big ‘yes from me. The coffee was a bitter, smooth roast and would have been worthy of that five star rating, it just needed to be a bit hotter for my liking.
The Wifi was pretty mediocre. Although I loved it for not using an ‘internet log in’ style connection, the internet did drop from my laptop a couple of times (inconvenient when you’re in the flow of an essay and GoogleDrive won’t let you edit!). When it was working, there weren’t any complaints from me.
This place was a whole VIBE. Mix of dark walls and bright murals, succulents and filament light bulbs. The mix of tables and comfy sofas give you a more relaxed environment, I just feel like you can’t really wish for much more? LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Grow Coffee House is defo a place I will be returning to ASAP! If you’re looking the dream study cafe – this one could just be that.
